Is the OE version that comes with XP different from the stand alone version? I am the only user on this pc and have everything with 'remember my password' ticked in OE. When I click Send/Recv it happily sends the mail out but when that is done and it tries to connect to pop3 I get a Logon-xxxxxxx(server) window that requires me to enter my password again. The password window is empty but the 'remember' box is ticked (although greyed out). Is there anything I can tweak to avoid having to logon every time? thanks.

hi Ww. There's more than just settings in OE to set; also set similar in Internet Explorer [from control panel] and 'Network Settings' [from Control Panel] and 'Phones & Modems' [from Cp] - Then you will have your 'dial up' panel properly configured to remember password - If you still don't get what you want, try here;http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/77/ :-)
OE is "free" with Windows, there is no stand alone version. Outlook on the other hand is OE with a few other goodies added on and that is a stand alone...Buy with office or on its own!

I have checked everything suggested, and even removed the dailup connection and set it up anew. No difference. When I open OE (online) the mail goes straight away, but before it gets the mail in I still get that 'logon - paradise' window. If I cancel it, a larger windows pops up with

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Paradise', Server: 'pop3.paradise.net.nz', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR syntax error', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

It is not a great worry, but I never got this with OE6 under 98se. I am far to inept to start rooting about in the Registry but thanks for the suggestions anyway.
maybe phone paradise support for settings. have you copied your settings slightly wrong? should that be 'pop.paradise' instead of pop3? or your smtp could be wrong.. oh well, dunno.
