As so frequently happens to me despite all efforts, I'm stumped by the very last unsolved clue. Am I alone in suffering from this bizarre symptom? Anybody have any ideas why it should be so? Well, the clue I can’t get on this occasion is: 22d. Drum up business thus, within the law (7). S?L?A?T. The only word that seems even tangentially appropriate is saltant, but I can’t parse it, and anyway why should saltant be drumming up? I’m pretty certain about the letters I have. I know I may soon be saying, "Ah! Yes, of course!" but that usually exacerbates my concern over what is evidently a deep-seated psychological problem.
