I bought a pair of exepensive fashion boots for my girlfriend and prior to her actually wearing them and to prevent the heeel from wearing down too early,
I took them to a Timpson's shop and asked the assistant if he could please bang in a couple of segs into the bottom of each heel where the wearing is going to occur.
The Timpson assistant then told he could not do this because as it was a rubber heel, the segs would just fall out.
Was the Timpson's assistant right ?
In any case, isn't it a bit unwise to meddle with the boots before your girlfriend has tried them? Suppose they have a defect or she has some other reason to return them? They would surely have to be in pristine condition.
