Has anyone heard or ever used the service this website offers? How legitimate are they?

Says it all. As far as I know what they say is ture in that there is land in the UK which is unclaimed, but getting hold of it and more importantly doing anything with it are another thing.

From what I remember you need to do a hell of a lot of work tracking down the last person to own the land, this invloves plenty of solicitors who as we all know don't come cheap.

The key in this is that if it was so easy these boys would be out claiming it all for themselves rather than charging you �7 a call to tell you what you could learn in the library in about an hour.

As a callow and poor uni student in the early 90's I seriously looked into this sort of "claim unclaimed land" thing. Thankfully I didnt go into it but got some free legal advice from a Solicitor. The law may have changed and I might be hazy on the details since I inquired but.....it is perfectly legal to claim unclaimed land, but proving you have a valid claim is very very dificult. Essentially you have to prove you have had sole access and use of a bit of land over a long period (10 years + at least) and then you are granted the land only if a search for the true owner proves fruitless. As WoWo states, if it was as easy as they say they wouldve sewn up the land themselves. Avoid Avoid Avoid! :-)
