Windows 8.1 on Drive D:
Windows 7 on Drive C:
My query is when I am using W8.1 is the OS using/sharing essential resources such as drivers in W7?
Can I safely erase Drive C: without adversely affecting Drive D:?

Physically removing the C: drive from BIOS or Disk Management means that the Windows 8 OS can't see it at all. If the Windows 8 OS can't see this drive then it is impossible for it to use any resources from it.

Personally, I fail to appreciate why anyone would want to have a 'Dual Operating System' on a computer. Furthermore, who would want to have Windows 8.1 when they have 7. I am still using Vista on my desktop, from which I am now posting, although I do have W 7 on a laptop which I sometimes use.
I really am surprised hc. ☺☺☺

Alex, my PC was Windows 7 and I installed beta W8 as dual boot to see what it was like.
I then bought the full version of W8 on its release and upgraded that to 8.1 when that became available.
I realised I hadn't used W7 for over 12 months and when I logged on last week I really found it so much slower than W8.1 even though I reset it to factory default.
I didn't like it at all and can't see me needing or wanting to use it again on this PC so I've decided to ditch it.
I much prefer W8.1 for everything.

I regret having to say it, but, I am surprised that, yourself being a Silver Plated Nerd in AB, you have opted for W8.1 which is regarded by other Nerdies as complete rubbish.
You can of course (and I feel sure will) ignore my opinion on this matter.
hc...You are great and I have been a fan of yours, before I even joined AB and was a looker-inner of the site.
Hope we remain friends ........Al.
