no sound

Hiya can anyone help recently I had to do a system restore, it was only rolled back 2 wks but now I have no sound. when I go into tools it says " No audio device detected" I dont understand I had sound at the date which I rolled back to so why not now and how do I get it back ? I only use the laptop speakers & have no disc.

Not sure if this will be any good, but have you tried going into Control panel>system >hardware>device manager - check there for the item thats your Sound device and check the properties - look at the option to update driver - when it asks you where to look, look into the main system drive (C Drive?)

Yes I have done that & it says there is no audio device detected,
try going into device manager, deleting the sound device entry and rebooting - windows will see the sound device and install the drivers (or maybe ask for the driver dick)

thanks Snee for your words of wisdom but it has obviously escaped your large know it all brain that emma is actually a girls name, therefor dick isnt very fitting I prefer the term pleb. Thanks

sorry snee posted answer too early, thanks 4 advice but I havent got a disc, I bought laptop from somone second hand but it came without any discs
a laptop - just goto the manufacturer's website and the drivers will be there for the particular model
