In my nursery class's outside area there is a large section which is meant to be covered with play bark but as it is on a slope this has all slipped off and there is now just mud. Even with the bark it's not good in rainy weather. I've been looking at artificial grass, tarmac and the rubber safety surface but they all seem to need quite a lot of prep work which would obviously push the price up.
We need something that can be used when it's raining or very shortly after rain and something that's not going to cost an awful lot. What surfacing could we use and what preparation would need to be done? TIA

You should probably ask the LEA/our headteacher what they suggest - must be a list of rules and regulations as long as your arm about it (and who's paying for it?).

Unfortunately there's no money in the budget so have to go to PTA for money and they'll want some idea of how much we want and what qw'll be doing with it. Would be so much easier if we could just ask the head! (Or if they'd put down the surface we asked for in the first place when we knew we were having a new building for the foundation unit!)
