vw golf year 2000 headlight problem

both the headlights are not working when the swithch is engaged, i,ve checked the fuses and they are ok , could it be a relay or the switch itself ? .

pull the switch out and bridge it with a copper wire to see if the lights come on.

do the beamers come on if you flash them using the arm? if yes then the problem is the ignition switch. other devices that will not work too are devices that need ignition on to work would eg. blower, rear demister etc.
