Personal Effects

My FIL died suddenly on 28th December. He was found by his carer who then called 999. We were notified by the police and were in a state of shock as he had spent Christmas with us and had a great time. When we began to make arrangements for his funeral I realised that we hadn't had any personal effects returned to us. We asked the undertaker if he had his watch, 2 signet rings and his wallet but he said that nothing like that had been given to him. I know he was wearing them the day before he died and we had also given him £100 which he put in his wallet. We on earth can I start to find out what happened to his things?

I have contacted the hospital and I am waiting for a reply. As for the carer, we do not have her phone number just the company that provided the carer. That will be my next line of enquiry if I don't get anywhere with the hospital. I'm hoping it's not her as she had been looking after him for a few years.
Sorry for your sudden loss. But, as Maizie says. I was taken to hospital by ambulance from work. A friend was called to the hospital but couldn't stay until emergency op was carried out, but was told that I would be on X ward following surgery. When he arrived the next day I was on Z ward. When I came around, I had asked for my watch, etc. and they couldn't find my belongings, until he arrived and told them about the change. They then checked X ward, and they were produced immediately. I'm sure they will turn up.
