Why did he not excommunicate the offending priests, Khandro ? Does not the bible declare homosexual acts sinful ? Were these not homosexual acts, and acts involving those below adulthood as well, contrary to the laws of God and man ? Did he, as God's representative on Earth say that that was erroneous? Did Jesus? This is not Jesus's teaching .
Perhaps.
I want to see priests/the clergy - if criminals in the dock (they are going around and they should have criminal records).
I do not trust the Catholic Church system to deal and they will cover what they can up putting the Church and themselves above that of the child or any true justice.
I have a funny feeling the Catholic Herald will try to wallpaper over the cracks here as they usually do.
What worries me is the fact that the Church is still in huge denial and is a coward is not fit to deal properly with this wrong.

Khandro, ‘defrocking’ (not a word the Catholic church formally uses) doesn’t equate to excommunication. Priests, whether defrocked or not, continue to enjoy a privileged position. Excommunication isn’t an option.
This from the internet:
//A laicized [defrocked] cleric is forbidden to exercise ministerial functions under nearly all circumstances, but an indelible priestly character is held to remain on his soul .....//
.... so according to the church, not such a bad bloke after all.
The real disgrace is that the church is at liberty to by-pass the law of the land and deal with offenders in its own way.

No Naomi
you are reading more into the change rendered by sacraments
I wondered about the word [defrocked] - which I hadnt heard used, but you know I havent met many defrocked priests or even child molesting priests.
It think a useful parallel is with another sacrament - marriage
If the marriage is dissolved ( not RC) then you dont go back to being a spinster [like hell] you are a divorcee
and you will be the first to say - yeah divorsayz are different to spins
like how !
You know - with kids running around - you cant very well say - it is as tho she has never been married at all
Big agonizing in the fourteenth century or thereabouts concerning whether sacraments from a corrupt priest - do they all have to be done again ?
you know like re-bap and they're not really married
and you will be thankful to learn that the Pope said - nothing's changed......

Exactly
//Not the words of Jesus// Probably not, as it's most likely one for each loaf world-wide, so what's that 5000.
Also see that the Pope now has a new son, well a boy named after him, the mother a Carmelite nun, based in Rieti, Northern Italy. She had complained of acute stomach pains and was admitted to hospital. "It's impossible [that I am pregnant], I'm a nun."
Stand up all you Judao/Muslim/Christian worshippers, it looks like that 'He' has arrived first or second time, depending how you look at it.
