Floppy disc trouble

One of my floppy disks has bitten the dust and it has data on it that I really want, is there any way to retrieve it, please? I have Windows XP and it's the little sort of cover that has broken. Many thanks.

The cover is only there to keep dust and stuff out, if you remove the cover completely included the small spring which closes it then it should still work with no problem. Obviously if it does work then copy the data someplace else quick and then discard the diskette.
