I think the idea is lovely but we're both hoarders so it wouldn't work.

Tony,we can't get our car in the garage, its too full.

Ours was to at our last house, giveup, but when we moved house 5 years ago next month I was determined that this time the garage was going to be for the car.
I love the 'cosy' look but without mountains of ornaments, lots of nice warm feeling curtains and cushions. But, tbh Plants are my downfall - Triffid's everywhere!, I do think they soften rooms nicely though :-)
Giveup, i would love to come and help...but i can barely move these days. haha
I,agree peas, plants are good:-)
one of the reasons i have split with my partner of 5 years is down to me having too much stuff (and mess) and him being a minimalist and ocd tendencies - he cannot relax if something is out on show, he has to put everything away so surfaces are clear, dishes are done, hoovered etc, every day

i would quite like him to do that, but the problem was he expected me to become like him - obsessed with tidying and cleaning and do it as much as him - yet when i did do it, it wasnt good enough...
he wanted me to totally gut my house - get rid of EVERYTHING, except for a few items, like bed, telly, clothes, laptop etc - but everything else must go and we start again from scratch ...
i would happily have got rid of a lot of it - i have wanted to get rid of it for years, i don't want it all and a lot of it means nothing to me, but the fact that he expected me to let him come in one day, while i was not there and just skip everything, was just bizarre.

i would do a lot for love, but the fact that he would even ask me to do that - as a deal breaker!
basically we both wanted to get back together in our hearts, but we knew in our heads that this conflict would arise again if we didnt sort it out - and he said unless i did this, it was no go
so that was that!
we realised we could never live together
(there were other issues of course , this was just a part of it)

No - giveup but I can do it but I dont like it - I find it bland like wearing beige.
I'm too much of an individualist and I experiment a lot with designs. I am not a hoarder or into perfection but I like to personalise my home and have it fun.
I think there is no such thing as a minimalist home. There are homes and there are minimalist dwellings where people exist. For a place to be a home it needs to be an easy relaxed place to be in (untidiness included).
