I agree with VHG. Laser printers don't sulk if you don't use them - when I had an inkjet, which I used infrequently, I reckon I used more ink cleaning the jets than I ever did printing. The cartridge that comes with the printer will last "forever" - replacements can be expensive but still a lot cheaper than ink and the real bonus is that you won't be forever finding it's run out of ink and you have to buy more. Most lasers give plenty of warning that the cartridge is running low and often taking it out and rocking it can extend the life by dozens more pages.
