I always felt he should have stayed at some of his first few clubs longer to learn the ropes before aiming higher.
His first job at Macclesfield only lasted from Oct 2006 till June 2007, less than a year.
He then went to MK Dons in June 2007 but only stayed at them till June 2008.
While at MK Dons he did win a trophy and got them promoted and won manager of the month a few times.
But going straight from there to Blackburn in the Premier League was too quick a rise and he only lasted 6 months.
Since then his periods at MK Dons (again), Notts Country and Blackpool have been poor and I doubt anyone will offer him a managers job again (only perhaps in the lower leagues or maybe a team in another country.
Plenty of English managers manage all over the world in places like Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, Africa and so on. Over there an ex-England player would still be a big catch.
