Not quite only in America. I had a case where the driver had hit a child, who was thrown over the bonnet on to the roof, his body hanging over the windscreen. The driver drove on and finally pulled into a service station about a mile on. On stopping he said to someone there "Hey mate, can you help me get the kid off the roof?"

The child was killed. The driver's explanation was that he was in such a state of shock that he was on 'autopilot' and not behaving logically.

contrast that other case in OZ where he killed fella and istead of hiding him on the roof, stuffed him down a storm drain. During the court case, he point to a video of himself and spontaneously commented - that's not me !

jno you are estopped from pleading estoppel on this thread or even ont he ownership or otherwise of the windscreen.
