Good afternoon people whats it like where you are? Here its as black as the ace of spades, the rainsbouncing off the road and the thunder and lightning is like an artillary barrage. The lights keep dimming so I'm expecting the power going.I hope the poor souls in Sommerset aren't getting it like this again.
Had terrible morning water running down roads like a river ,drains bubbling up....high winds....now stopped and Sun coming out....watery sun mind but still Sun !
Here east of Leeds. We've just had a storm, which has now moved on. Suddenly v. windy, with v. heavy rain. Some wheelie bins blown over, contents scattered around our cul-de-sac. Just like being out in the Atlantic.
About an hour ago, we had an awful thunder and lightening storm, and a torrent of hail stones which made a drift along the side of the house. All gone now, but it's very cold.
Paddy....it's bad here but I do feel for the people in Somerset....that poor man last night who may not be able to get to hospital for his operation.....
We cause so much of the flooding yet don't really deal with it that well.
As I said earlier it seems to have blown over us,It's still quite dark and the grey clouds are flying along but at least the rain thunder and lightning have left us for a while.
It had been a nice sunny day up until an hour ago, know it's grey cloud and strong winds.
I've got twelve people coming for dinner tonight, hope they make it as I have bloody great haggis that needs eating!
And more importantly I hope they can all leave at the end of the night as I haven't got anything in for breakfast......not to mention the shortage of beds!
We had one at half four, power went off three times, it is as silent as the grave outside at the moment, they give bad tomorrow so I have been told, we still have road closed due to floods,
We were in Grantham this afternoon, I have honestly never seen it rain so much, the fork lightning and thunder was amazing and the hail was bouncing up so high off the ground. We made a dash into Matalan and they suddenly had a power cut. Good job they had an emergency generator. The storm continued for ages, lots of surface water driving home.
