Stan The Man (Part 2)
Goodness me! Stanislas Wawrinka becomes a Grand Slam Champion! Seems like Rafa was injured but still... wow. Beat both Nadal and Djoker on the way to his first title, and becomes one of only two people other than Del Potro outside the Big Four to have won a Grand Slam since 2005.

Some people are saying Stan doesn't deserve the victory because Nadal was injured, and previous opponents were injured or withdrew. So what should be done? Wrench the trophy from his grasp?, put an asterix next to his name on the trophy to signify "he didn't deserve it"? As I said on another thread on this subject, he can only play the guy at the other end....

Federer (my favourite) won his slams against far lesser opponents, but they still count. Stan beat Djokovic and Nadal back to back.
Who knows if Nadal would have taken the medical time out if he'd been leading at that point? He was obviously hurting, so had to. I applaud him for carrying on and looking as if he might reel Stan in. I thought it might be a "Justine Henin type retirement", which must have left Mauresmo with a horribly anti-climactic way of winning her slam.
Well played to both men.

Yes I did watch the entire match (twice) and am still convinced that it was appalling gamesmanship on the part of Nadal = exaggerating the twinge in the back, taking a very long medical time out so wawrinka lost the momentum. Nadal couldn't beat Wawrinka the way the latter was playing yesterday so Nadal thought he'd have a go at his mind instead. Dirty trick.
