Can anyone tell me the difference between an analogue and a digital telephone?

Analogue is ordinary radio waves. This is susceptible to interference and eavesdropping.

Digital is a signal made up of 1s and 0s. Virtually inpossible to eavesdrop and practically immune to interference.

With the first you use yer bottom to dial, with the second type you use yer finger? :)

We've just bought a new set of digital cordless phones & the difference is amazing (from our old analogue cordless ones). No more distortion noises & as clear as a bell!

I'd like to point out that I knew this, but was just clarifying that you meant the difference between analogue and digital cordless phones.

You should be able to use your phone much further from the base unit with digital cordless phone because the signals sent are less ambiguous to interpret than analogue signals.
