Bedroom Tax Refund

Hi, I posted the stuff below on an old thread but thought it may be useful to someone.

An old thread I know but I heard someone the other day saying about this case of the suicide and that she wouldn't have had to pay the extra money. It was about something in the Guardian paper last month the link is below. If there is anyone on here who has been affected by it then they may want to take a look. If you think you may have got a case for refund then it may be worth your while asking about it as not all councils keep records going back that far so they may not contact you. What I meant in the last bit was that they may not tell you that you may be entitled to a refund unless you contact them.

From the moment this was announced all the Media began to refer to it as a 'Tax' so it is little wonder that the public adopted the misnomer too.

because some see it as a tax, a punishment if you like for daring to have one more bedroom than you apparently need, i would like to say i have been affected by this, and am not a happy bunny, however there is little one can do. I don;t qualify for any kind of pay back, or reimbursement as i wasn't claiming any kind of benefit way back then, as i was in work.

he shouldn't seeing the salary he earns, but it gets my goat he lives in a council property and some seem to think that as long as he pays rent, it's ok. I don't,

I agree with you emmie, and I was a trade unionist all my working life and I crossed swords with Crowe on more than one occassion. As the press call him a champagne socialist, not far wrong imo.
