emulsioning over washable wallpaper.

I have my lounge wallpapered in washable wallpaper. If i lightly sand it with fine sandpaper, would I then be able to apply emulsion over it, that would then stay on? Otherwise, I will have to strip the wallpapaer, then apply blown vinyl, and the emulsion over that! A lot of work, I think! Paintrag.

yes you could sandpaper away the washable top layer but it would probably be a lot easier stripping off as if you miss some patches from sandpapering the paint wouldn't stick and you'd have the bother of sandpapering those bits again and the paint might not look the same

If you are careful you can remove the vinyl layer from the lining paper underneath. Then just paint on top of that. It depends on how long the stuff has been up as to how succesful it is though.

i'd strip it off if i were you paintrag, otherwise your going to have it chipping off in no time,then your going to have to start from scratch..a job worth doing is a job well done dont you think?70% of decorating is preperation.giz a shout if you want a hand lol

I'd agree with removing it - aside from anything else, it will be a ****** to get off when you do want to remove it if you have painted over it.

if you rub it down it will leave a very horrible surfacem thus making you paint work lok cack. Cutting corners doesnt always work, so my advice is strip the paper, line if needed and paint. job done.
