Just watching an animal rescue thing. There is a lady who has had a cockatoo for fifty years. She has to be seventy at least.

I just looked it up, Caran:
Life Span

"If you were planning on a short visit from one of these guys, think again. Cockatoos have an average life span of 50 to 70 years. This is if they have led a healthy and safe lifestyle, of course. Yes, that means no playdates with the cat or late-night cocktails."

Amazing, I think, a life span of that!
They have a longer life span than parrots even. I wanted to get an african grey but they live till about 50 all things being equal so I thought about a cockatoo then saw that they can live up to70 years. As I'm 60 I don't think a parrot is a good idea.
