Depends which gears are crunching. The clutch operates the same in all gears. If for instance it is 3rd and 4th gear crunching then it will not be the clutch it is more likely to be a gearbox fault. If it is 1st and reverse crunching then it may be the clutch or cable problem. Try operating the release arm with a lever bar instead of the clutch pedal. If the gears are ok then it will be cable/pedal adjuster fault if gears still crunch then it will be release arm/clutch fault.
