They are on about the flooding in Berkshire. A woman complaining that is has taken two days..........YES two days to get any help.!!!!!!!! Where it has been 7 wEEKS down here in Somerset.!! It seems now it is effecting Windsor and areas things are starting to happen.

The army were on standby in Jan while your fire service pumped. Somerset get as much coverage as others. Windsor is inland, not a coastal resort.

people in somerset have lost their livlihoods have the people in berkshire. no all they have gained is a few inches of water. screaming and moaning instead of getting on with life. perhpas if the sluices had been maintained and the people in somerset not so deep in fllod water for so long there might be some sympathy for berkshire.

Unfair LadyJ. Peeps homes/work/livlihoods are as devastated here too. Floods are a tragedy for all sufferers; them & us is no help & futile.

tambo i'm not saying that it is nicer to be flooded in berkshire than it is on the levels but the people on the levels have been asking for dredging to be done for a number of years and their requests ignored. also you should take into account they have been living with these particular floods for two months not a few days. remember it takes up many years to bread a prize herd of cattle and sheep. having to sell them off so they are dispersed must be heartbreaking. lots of farmers gave up after the foot and mouth episode i wonder how many more will give up now.

It rings very true - only when it's close to THEIR home has something started to be taken seriously (or so it seems).

The floods are everywhere, there was an appeal on FB last night for someone to house 17 horses from a field on the Romney Marsh - the field was predicted to be flooded by now.

^ that's just an example, I realise it's far more serious that just 17 horses if you are losing your home and livelihood.

I can't imagine how I would feel if my home was destroyed and I was living for weeks knee deep in water.
I have every sympathy for the people in the newly flooded areas and while I wouldn't wish it upon them there is a very small part of me thinking... thank god...because if they weren't I am cynical enough to think that Cameron and co would still be fluffing about...looking the other way and there would be no talk of financial help.

boxtop, I wish I was a writer for the newspapers...we don't even buy one.! But looking at it it shows other think the same as me.
tamborine...yes I have just looked up that thread you put up......that was dated 31st Jan...? hmmmm well we didnt hear about it until last friday on the tv so if they was on standby they was standing somewhere else.! Flooding is no fun ever!! for anyone, and thankfully I am not flooded myself. But to see a poor man cry because his house, farm and livelihood have all gone.! He tried so hard last week getting his cattle to higher ground so they wouldnt drown. because by now they would have done.! Now he has had to sell them as no where to live himself let alone the cattle. And this is just one farmer.! We do not live on a coastal resort at all.! We are inland. Yes people up there are flooded and are getting help now from the Gerkas I see as well as other forces. Down here could have been avoided to some degree if the sledging had not been discontinued for the last 20 years.Although the farmers are still paying for it.!
