Its Like Groundhog Day

Planning the things birthday party, seems like I have only just done one! Think I have found a DJ that does the whole party thing plus a bouncy castle!!! Fab result. Now just have to endure the whole complicated ritual of booking the hall - getting the key on the actual day is like a secret service mission, always a nightmare.

I don't mind doing the food and party bags - well rehearsed in that, could almost do it in my sleep. Just I need an entertainer person and they are thin on the ground around here and getting the key/booking the hall is always so tricky. I love my kids' birthday parties - that don't get that many (just seems that way because there are a few of them).

Ah, the obligatory 'we must spend a horrendous amount of cash on our kids birthday party because the school playground mum's clique all do and we wouldn't want them thinking we're tight'

Whatever happened to inviting a few of your kid's close friends around to your house, putting on a nice spread and playing some fun childrens party games?

We live in a house the size of a shoe box and already have five children of our own. They are twins so would both want to invite their own friends. In the spirit of fairness all of our children get their first proper party when they are five and usually they have one each year until they are eight (seem to grow out of it then). Usually it's just a bouncy castle down the community hall and himself would do the games but since his ruptured brain aneurysm and consequent emergency brain surgery I can't rely on him to be on top form on the day of the party.

it makes sense to have a party in a community hall, they aren't expensive to hire out and there is plenty of room for the kids to run amok and have fun without fear of breakages.

much better idea than having it at your house, and it doesn't have to be mega expensive if you do a lot of it yourself.
