I have recently been on an Italian ship (an MSC one) and just loved the \'Americano\' coffee that I had with hot milk, does anyone know which coffee they use please? I even enjoyed it black, unheard of. I never thought to ask at the time. Do you think I might get the same taste from a cafetiere and ground?
Thanks all.

there lots of different types but my favourite is lavazza it usually comes in a plastic container that you put on top of a cup and pour the hot water on to so it filters in to the cup....
It's not the blend that makes the difference, it's how it's made. Italians make their coffee by forcing superheated water at high pressure through compressed finely ground beans. That requires either an espresso machine or one of those logic defying aluminium pots you can buy in most kitchen shops. http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Le+Xpress+6+Cup+Espresso+Maker/125549062,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Google+Shopping-_-Product+Extensions+And+Listings-_-Le+Xpress-_-_Le+Xpress+6+Cup+Espresso+Maker&$$ja=cgid:7252484515|tsid:44970|cid:146504275|lid:58373890315|nw:g|crid:30837453835|rnd:14602198992004720126|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|bku:1 For Americano, you add the same amount of boiling water to the espresso. You can get Italian coffee blends at most supermarkets, but putting it in a cafetiere or filter machine won't give you the same drink.
