I would really love to be able to get some help with this tonight as I need the pics on the ipad for tomorrow.

I have followed the instructions that pinky gave me here:
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Question1312797.html

but although everything looks as if it is going ok I keep getting a message saying the the pics and vids "could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish".
I don't know what to do. Has anyone got any advice please please please?

Thanks.

Try starting iTunes on the PC as Administrator. i.e. Right click on the iTunes icon and select 'Run as Administrator', then try the iTunes sync process again.

Okey doke - I'm giving it a go. Stand by lol!!

Omg pinky it seems to be working but I'm not getting too excited yet! It says "copying 128 of 298 pics" which it hasn't said before so I'm hopeful. Are you going to be on here for a while in case I hit problems lol?
Also, if the pics do transfer, do I need to undo the run as administrator thingy?
I'll be around until approx. midnight, but, by the sound of it you should be ok now that iTunes seems to be 'moving' stuff across. As for the 'Run as Administrator' you need not worry, when you close the iTunes program, it will revert back to its previous status automatically.

Aw can't believe it - it has finished doing it's thing but I can't find the pics on the ipad . . .
Presumably you have an iTunes App on the iPad, try running that and checking to see the synched files. Also, If you have a Photo App try running that as it may also be able to show the list of picture files.

Ah, I don't have an itunes app on the ipad. Do I download itunes to it or go to the app store to download an app?
Sorry for being so thick and thank you for your patience pinky.

And I looked in the photos section but I don't see them there.

I am going to download the iTunes Connect Mobile. Maybe I will be able to see the pics there?
Question Author
OK - I give up!
I have downloaded iTunes Connect but when I put in my account name and password it says "cannot find itunes Connect user. (2002) (2002)"

Surely things like this shouldn't be so hard nowadays??!!
Maybe you should try the transfer process again, as I would have expected the Photo files to be found by the iPad Photo app.

Some instructions for clarity, similar to my previous info are available at the following link (please excuse the strange references in the text, but I believe the info might be helpful!):

Guess what pinky - it has worked!!!

I went to bed pretty peeved last night but when I got up this morning they had appeared in the photo app on the ipad. Must have had a bit of a delayed reaction!

Thank you so so so much for all your help, advice and patience pinky. I really appreciate it.
It's good to hear that you hear you have successfully transferred your photos to the iPad.

Glad to have been of some help.

Regards.

I spoke too soon pinky :0(

The photos transferred but the videos didn't. So feeling full of confidence I attached the ipad to the laptop again to try and do the videos. However I think it automatically synced and took all the pics off again - ggrrrr!!

I am now copying them back on with my fingers crossed. If the pics work then I will disconnect and forget about the videos for today. But for future reference I have 2 queries:
1) Why did the pics disappear off the ipad? Was it because it automatically synced? And if so how do I only get it to sync when I want it to?
2) What do I need to do to get the videos to transfer? I ticked the option which says "include videos".

Thanks.
Note that every time you sync photos to the iPad you should check all photos you want to have on the iPad when the sync operation completes, not just the ones you want to add. The only way to delete synced photos from the iPad is to uncheck them in iTunes and re-sync again. iTunes checks the ones you have checked with the current contents of the iPad and adds or deletes as necessary to make them match.

As for the Video files transfer, there should be a corresponding Video App on the iPad which is where the videos will be sync / associated with (similar to the Photo App for the transfered Photo files)

Hope that helps!

Hi pinky, I looked in the video app but the vids weren't there unfortunately.
Just get the Photo Transfer app.
It may be that the iPad does not recognise the video format and will only transfer certain types, for example .mp3.

What type of format / filename extension is the video file that you are attempting to transfer?

Take a look at the following site which lists the type of video formats support by the iPad:

Question Author
Zacs-Master - I got the Photo Transfer app but can't get it to work.

Pinky - my video files are called Video Clip (.AVI). I don't see that mentioned on the link you posted so does that mean that they cannot be transferred?
