Annie lived on Easy Street, I think. It was a song in Annie. It wasn't a West End/Broadway type musical though, although Wikipedia describes it as "a 1941 musical short film starring Dorothy Dandridge"
I doubt it's the answer though- it may just be a coincidence that the next sentence mentions Annie

Thank you for suggesting Betty,factor-fiction-definitely much better than Annie. Smarty Pants here didn't bother checking the lists-have checked now and saw it was a 1915 musical. Hope CAJJES sees this thread though I did put a ? after Annie! I'm going with 42nd Street.
