If Scotland became independent what would happen to the dozens of current UK Establishments and Departments based in Scotland ? I can't see the rest of the UK paying for all those civil and military establishments , many of which were only sent to Scotland to share the wealth and employment of the UK as a whole, in the first place. If they were removed or reduced hundreds of Scottish companies and employes would be affected.

That's true Emmie but Scotland won't be a part of the UK nor the EU according to the Italian Minister ( whose name I forget ). They will have to apply for membershp.
you don't mean Barroso, as he is Spanish i believe.
If Scotland does become independent , NOT just a yes vote in the referendum . all the Scottish based departments of what is now UK government will have no option but to relocate back over the border. They can not operate from what will be a foreign country that is not even in the EU and uses a different currency.
many government call centres in DWP are based in Scotland,
emmie Yes they will all have to come back 'down south' plus the Scots will have to set up their own departments to do the same thing but only for Scotland.
I am sure this has not been thought through, an independent Scotland is going to need its own organisations , everything from a post office and banks to health service and hospitals.
it is so complex an issue that i am pretty sure that it won't happen,
don't think that was Salmonds plan, after all he still wants to keep the Monarchy, very magnanimous
Yes again ,Salmond thought he could have his cake and eat it. The news that he could not use the £ and that he would be outside the EU has scuppered him but he refuses to acknowledge it. He thought an Independent Scotland could just use the £ and stay in the EU but he has been proved wrong on both counts.
Every official document a Scot has will have to replaced with the Scottish version, driving licence, passport every thing.
cost a small fortune, there seems some dispute that they can keep the Pound, but that doesn't seem the opinion of Mark Carney, or George Osborne, not the pound sterling at any rate.
The Permanent Secretary to the Treasury ( who is independent of the government) has also ruled out independent Scotland keeping the £ so there is no way they could keep it.
wonder how he can spin that to the good people in Scotland
it looks good but doubt much is practical, how does he propose to pay for it all.

He has no answer , he just says it is all bluff and when if comes down to it the UK will change its mind and let Scotland keep the £ and the EU will let them stay in.
is that with finger crossed behind his back, its not the way of things is it
