Eleanor Powell the best dancer of that time. The Begin the Beguine sequence in Broadway Melody of 1940 is just sublime
Those who said Al Bowlly can go to the top of the class. The song was written by Ray Noble (and others) and Al Bowlly gave the vocals to the 1931 recording by the Ray Noble Orchestra. The Wayne King Orchestra (with Ernie Birchill) did the American version in the same year. Since then, there have been dozens of versions. Now hands up all those who remember the words we sang at the holiday camp.
