Radio Times Prize Crosswords

Does anyone know whether there has been a change of compiler for these crosswords since Christmas? I've been doing them for years but find that I rarely finish them now and there are some very unusual words. I find it hard to parse many because they are so obscure. They were tricky before but always do-able- now I find myself becoming frustrated because I have to 'cheat' and check on AB to get the answers. Grr rant over LOL

I have to agree with you completely! I think the compiler has been changed and this one is trying to get my brains in a twist and is succeeding!! ! I always like to think I can finish it on my own but this year I have been 'cheating' (like yourself) and resorting to AB for the answers. It is nice to know someone else agrees with me. Cheers.

Definitely not just you, Mrsspag!
I've found they've been getting increasingly more difficult for a long time. Sometimes I'm lucky to get half the clues, and other times when I put in two or three clues, then find myself scouring this site for the answers, while the original poster wants "the last couple, to complete this week's stroll through."
There was a time when I'd finished it inside an hour of buying it in town and getting home...
