You will love New York, Empire state building brilliant but go up there when it is dark, Statue of Liberty & ellis island go over on a ferry, we bought a day & night ticket for the tourist bus really good value, Greenwich Village full of gays don't let that put you off it comes alive at night, If you like blues music, BB.King has a club just off of Times Square, And if it is dry take a carriage ride round Central Park, there are loads of shows on in Broadway and if you Have time you can catch a coach and go up to see Niagara Falls,

Have a great time I am sure you will love it

I'm just back on monday! We were there for 6 days + did everything we wanted! Here's what i would advise:

1. Take the grayline tours - they are the best in the city. Take the bus from times sq - the men in red will sell you tickets. You can get 1 tour for 1 day for $39 or all 4 for 2 days for $49. We took the 2 day one and used the 2nd day for transport.

The tours will show you what is worth doing + you can hop off a bus and see an attraction + then jump on the next one (usually around every 10mins) + continue the tour.

2. Go to Chinatown for lunch + knockoff designer gear! Canal St is where it is all being sold.

3. Go to a Broadway show - the TKTS booth in Times SQ sells them half price, lines are shortest earlier in the week + booths open in the PM.

4. If you dont want to go up Statue of Liberty (you can only up to her feet now) take Staten Island ferry over + back - goes right past her + it's free.

5. If you are there on saturday or a nice day, spend it in central pk. There are a couple of zoos + a memorial to John Lennon as well as a lake you can hire row boats on and a skating rink. You can take horse and carriages round it but the horses stink so we didnt bother!

6. Go to battery pk for a day or afternoon - here you can visit Ground zero (dont miss the little chapel that stood - very moving), get the ferry to staten island + visit the American Indian Museum.

7. If you like shopping, go to an outlet mall. 5th ave is where all the expensive/designer shops are, 6th ave is much less expensive. Also dont miss Macys and Bloomingdales. Hershey's Chocolate is also worth a visit.

8. Other things worth a look are the Empire state building, Rockefeller ctr, Grand Central Stn.
