Those damned yankies are pulling the plug on Piers Moron's telly show on CNN.

Got tired of hearing a Brit being superior over gun control apparently

A recent petition to deport him quickly gathered the needed 100 000 signatures and the White House huffily commented that the petition process was not to be used for entertainment or comic purposes.

It's a vicious circle. When most of the population have one- you want one too. America is at the bottom of a very slippery slope.

UK is at polar opposite end of the gun-owning rainbow from the US, so much attitudes on both sides will be incomprehensible.From the US position, the idea of lawful gun owners giving up their guns given how rife guns are amongst the criminal fraternity must seem pretty ludicrous.

2 things only - the idea of introducing more guns into schools in an effort to protect kids from gun massacres is an NRA idea that just seems ludicrous to me.
Second- the notion in Arizona of allowing "concealed carry" permits in bars and clubs just seems a recipe for drink-fuelled disaster.

Anyway, Piers is gone from your screen on a regular basis, so that must cheer anyone up ;)

France has surprisingly high gun ownership but about 33% of the per capita ownership of the US, but one sixteenth of the number of gun related homicides per capita. Draw what conclusions you like, but I think it is probably because most guns in France are owned by farmers who use them on their own land to shoot game, whereas in the US they seem to be used by children in schools to shoot other children.
