I don't watch any of the competition type programmes of top Gear so it won't make a difference to me.
Reading that article though, its from an ex-BBC bod trying to flog a book, making the very obvious point that programmes generally have a shelf-life ( although soaps and some panel shows seem to have avoided that).

And this quote? Talk about hedging your bets and not committing yourself ;)

"He said: 'I think there’s a series of very popular formats which over the next five to ten years will reach the end of their natural lives, such as Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, Dragons’ Den, Top Gear, The One Show,' the Express reported"

I cannot see them pulling Top Gear anytime soon - it is a massive hit outside of the UK, contributing lots of money to the BBC coffers, and I think "Strictly.." is safe for a few seasons yet.

They could pull "The Apprentice" though, for me - never warmed to that show.
//Strictly will, over the next five to ten years, reach the end of its natural life, and new formats need to be created//

i hope not, those programmes have been on far too long.
***or Top Gear (that should read)

//competition type programmes of top Gear//

They do competitions??

Ah! ok ^^^^ X'ed posts.
I wouldn't be sad to see the back of The Apprentice and Alan Sugar. I really don't think that you should be rude, arrogant and obnoxious just because you are successful and rich.
Would miss Strictly and as it's been pulling in extra viewers lately, can't think why they'd want to scrap it !
