I assume it's a USB dongle?

Is there a switch on it anywhere?

When you plug it in to the computer is there not a little message that comes up in the botton right of the screen (next to the clock) which says something like 'Bluetooth installed and ready to use'?

do you have windows XP SP 1 or SP 2?

SP2 comes with a driver from microsoft, that will probably work with the dongle.

Firstly when i plug it in the dongle jjust lights up, but nothing comes up on my computer.

Secondly how do i know if i have SP1 or 2 please. Thanks for your help so far, ready and waiting for next. lol

right-click my computer (on the desktop), and click properties.

it'll tell you there, under the "windows XP" bit. if you only have SP1, then go here in internet explorer:

www.windowsupdate.com

and run whatever it tells you to. it'll let you upgrade (for free) to SP2.

SP2 i have got - so what do i do to make this dongle work please. step by step if at all possible as i am not literate with these items. thanks
Go to the Start menu and then across to Control Panel. When this opens up you should see a number of icons, one of which will be named Bluetooth Devices. Double click this icon to open it and then press the hardware Tab, it should have listed your USB Bluetooth dongle. Press the options tab next and click the check box which says Turn Discovery on. Also ensure that both of the check boxes under Connections are ticked, click ok and it should now be working.

The Devices tab will list any bluetooth devices broadcasting, i.e your mobile phone and you may find that when you come to transfer files between the two you will need to input an access code (like a PIN). This only has to be done once and you should find it in your mobile manual (its usually 0000). Once its done then your PC will remember that it has connected before.

Gool luck....oh yes and once you have transferred your photos you will find them in your documents folder.

Khana your information is great however i do not have a icon saying bluetooth Device, does this mean that i have bought ths item for nothing. Thanks await to hear from you.

When i plug my usb dongle into the usb port a bluetooth icon appears on my taskbar near the clock and if i`m sending a file from mobile to pc i have to right click on this bluetooth icon near the clock and select "recieve file" and a progress window appears on the screen for the file transfer.
