Got my combined gas/electric bill on Thursday. It is an estimated bill. Gas should be okay but electric is probably way out. Before Mic was ill I used my washing machine 3 or 4 times a week. Now I use it up to 3 times a day. So is it best to just pay the bill or send them a reading. I'm thinking on the lines of if I pay the estimate and charges go up every thing I've used over the estimate will be charged at the new rate. What do you think?
Using your logic of rates potentially rising it would probably be best to send them an actual reading (think you can't it online). However, your bill over the next quarter should go down a bit as it shouldn't be so cold so they might cancel each other out.
Jeza, I'd be inclined to read your meter and let the supplier know - otherwise by the time they make their physical reading (which ours only does once a year now), you might find you owe them loads of accumulated underpayments.
They can't charge you an increased rate on fuel you're using at the moment - energy used now will be charged at the current rate.
