Just ignore them, I get it quite a lot, they either get a filthy look or completely ignored. I've no interest in a strangers opinion of my mood. (I also rarely look smiley but I'm acually quite cheerful most of the time).
I was a serious lad and only smiled when something made me smile. I used to get quite depressed at the implied message from the 'it won't happen' brigade that because I didn't smile a lot then I must be miserable. It is in fact a form of bullying however (allegedly) well meant. So take china doll's advice, I wish I had..
i think it depends on someones personality. I mean everyone can PRETEND to ignore it, thats easy. but really igniring it is the hard part. some people dwell on things and think things out more than others. I know because i see people do it.
