Tumble Dryer
11 Answers
I have a vented tumble dryer and I'm currently waiting (patiently) for Mr P to drill a big hole in the exterior wall so I can put the hose outside.
Will the world end if I use the tumble dryer for the odd 10 minute blast pointing the hose out into the laundry room?

I really don't want to replace the dryer, hopefully Mr P should have the vent in place in the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to make sure that it would be OK to just let the air vent into the laundry room instead of the outside world.
(I don't have a cat flap or that would have been a great solution, Mosaic. And the dryer is too far away from the window.)

Plumbers suppliers and others sell ventilation ducting which you could use as an extension out of the nearest window, joining up to what you already have (or else the dryer itself) with good adhesive tape such as duct tape. Not only is this inexpensive but could eliminate the need for a hole in the wall.
To be honest I'd rather have a permanent hole in the wall than have to stick the vent hose out of a window every time I used it.
I had a hole in the wall before we renovated the back of the house (where the laundry is), so it's just a case of putting a new hole in. The old hole is now being used for an extractor fan for the new shower-room.
