Found: One Hamster

Yet again my furry alarm clock has wakened by at silly o'clock in the morning and demanded immediate feeding. I toddled off downstair and put food in his and his sister's bowls. Frankie took one sniff of the food and stomped off - his sister screamed in alarm and raced back up the stairs. Bah!
I have just read this article in a Scottish paper - how can anybody lose a little one in such a way?

When we were kids, my sister and I each had a hamster and loved them. When we went to the seaside for the week, our elderly neighbour 'Auntie' Winnie kindly looked after them.
On our return, she guiltily explained that she had let them out for a roam in the living room and couldn't find one. Devastated, my sister stayed in her room crying until a week later - my mum was next door chatting and noticed a bump in Auntie Winnies electric recliner seat errrm.. moving.
One very hungry hamster was rescued out of the chair and my sister was reunited with 'tetanus'. Strange what you remember when you are a 4 year old eh?

I am not keen on small rodents - but mainly because they are so small and vulnerable. The world must be a terrifying place for something so tiny and defenceless.
I am not at all sure what people think will happen to any animal that they dump. A pampered pet is not going to enjoy being out in the cold or rain with no 'feeding on demand' or warm bed.
It always makes me wonder how well they treat their children.
