DVD burning

Hi, I have downloaded episodes of Lost from various torrent sites and want to be able to watch them on my DVD player. They are burning onto the disk using Sonic Record, and can play on my laptop (which is new) but they disks go unrecognised on my DVD player. The file types are .rar Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't know too much about this kind of thing! Thanks a lot.

Isn't that Sony software that only works on their hardware? Try burning it using nero/dvdshrink

Sounds to me like you are burning as data files which will not be recognised by a dvd player.a rar file is like a zip file ie is a way of compressing data to make the file size smaller.you need to download winrar which will then allow you to 'unrar' or unpack the files to give you a video file.this can then be burnt to a dvd allowing you to watch.

One thing though,Lost is infamous as when burnt to dvd the audio goes out of sync with the video.i recommend just watching on your pc.

Agree with above as to rar file. Extract the files.

My old DVD player couldn't play any other video formats such as MPEG, AVI and WMV but now a lot of them do. These can be burned to an ordinary CD.
