Walking into town yesterday I was admiring the banks of crocus and daffodils in the civic gardens. There were flower heads scattered everywhere But one patch was flattened as though someone had rolled over them. Why do people do this?
Last year I had a few words with a group of Mums letting their children play chase in a flower bed and pulling the heads off the flowers....they just don't give a damn...any more than the people who left their litter scattered around the Country Park yesterday.....
We are lucky in Northants to have many interesting and well planned parks and birding sites except now for Titchmarsh where three of the hides have been destroyed by vandals.
So...the I don't care slobs and the let's wreck it eejits....but god knows why.
some of the neighbours children did this, there were some beautiful roses in the gardens nearby, and they pulled the heads off everyone. I did remonstrate but by then it was too late.
//RATTER, I think people who do horrid things when they're drunk are people who were horrid to start with.//
Generally speaking I agree, however I have seen, youngsters who are fairly polite and considerate people when sober turn into horrible louts when drunk and I wouldn't put destruction past any of them.
I certainly am not suggesting that all drunk youngsters are evil little sh!ts but unfortunately it does have that affect on some.
An amusing tale that wouldn't happen now...she'd be arrested.
My mother lived in a house with a huge wrap around garden....she kept chickens...grew flowers and veg and had one large apple tree in the middle of the lawn.
A few young lads started "visiting" ...destroying plants and climbing the tree for ammunition to throw at the chickens.....no amount of pleading stopped them.
One day she saw two lads up the tree....so she took an air rifle and adopted the role of mad woman.....
She began dancing around the tree..wailing, whooping, screeching and skipping ... all the while pointing the rifle towards the tree. (I had taken her to some Native American ceremonies while in Canada and she'd loved the dancing)
She kept this up for a very long time........the begging and pleading of the boys turned into tears and promises never to return if she let them go........it
worked...the house of the mad woman with the gun was left in peace....☺
