Ideas For Inventions

My nephew has some school homework. They are learning about inventors and their inventions. He has to come up with an idea and either show how it works on a poster or do a prototype. Does anyone have any ideas of a theme to get the ball rolling my mind is blank and hes getting frustrated because he cant think of any.

Perhaps he could design:
- a cat bowl that will stop food spilling out everywhere? :-)
- a cat/ dog proof christmas tree
- a tennis ball that squeaks after being thrown every 5 seconds so the dog owner can find it in long grass.

or one that I definitely could do with but have never seen: LED lights within flat velcro backed material rectangle so that you can attach them to dog harnesses for night walking (as the led light collars have large battery packs and it would be easier to attach to a harness)

I hope he has fun whatever he decides to make :-)

An ironing machine. You put all the laundry in at one end and it comes out the other end all nicely ironed and folded. He would make a fortune if he could invent one of those. Make sure he patents it!

dog flap that doesnt let cats in - done before but so what ?

meths detector -protects meths drinkers and lets them only drink wholesome alcohol ?

pot hole detector - very useful post flooding ?

lost aircraft detector - not sure how that one would work

coffee machine that makes really nice coffee ?

A teaspoon that reproduces itself when its the last one in the cutlery tray. Particularly useful for places of work.

Tilly, I've been searching high and low for an Led like it as it would be really useful for his doxlock/ julius harness. I might just try and knit one as am no use at circuit boards :-)

Little windmills like kiddies seaside toys.

However these are attached to the wheels of aeroplanes to spin the wheels before touchdown.

It would save a fortune in rubber, as the wheels are usually not turning when they slam onto the runway.
