Ernest Hemmingway was once challenged to tell a story in six words - which of course, he did, poignantly, and effortlessly.

I would never dream of putting myself in his orbit, but I have managed to compose a story in six words -

Court judgement - adpotion refused - no appeal.

Anyone else?

I was once standing on the platform of the London Underground. On the opposite wall someone had written in large letters - (Dont ask me how they did that!) -
Stardate 29 July. Beamed down. No trains. Beamed back up again.
Granddad unvisited...... dies ......Will shocks family.
Born crying. Die everyone else crying.
Who are you? Oops, wrong house.
Troll posts......abers get cheeky.....suspensions.
got born-lived life-passed away.......!
Once upon a time. "whatsa ponner?"
Float sinks, reel sings, meal time.
Writer's block. Couldn't finish.

Thanks so much for all your replies - all really clever.

BTW, Hemmingway's response, when asked to compose a story in six words was, I am sure you will agree, a degree or two above all our literary efforts -

"For sale, babies shoes, never worn."

The ability to come up with that - that's what made him a legend.
Just been reading about that Andy, that was how he won the bet but some doubt it's originality....
