We've had small goldfish/fantail fish for quite a few years - we had the same two for ages, and then as one died, we tried replacing it with another. After introducing a new one, either the old one or the new one seemed to die within a month or two. We decided to just keep one in the end as it kept happening. Its got a fair sized tank, some weed, and a bridge and stone, but recently its been spending the whole time near the bottom, doing nothing, only coming up to get food. Is it bored? ill? any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Zip - what size tank is it in? When did you last change the water and have you tested it recently? Have you noticed the fish swimming funny, or not being able to keep its balance? It's best to feed goldfish sinking pellets rather than flake food as they can take in air when eating the food and this can cause swimbladder problems.
maybe u should place it somewhere different in the room,i know this used to work for me nans budgie.Just A Thought,Just A Thought.......

Thanks for your replies - the fish died overnight, had tested the water and seemed fine, so must have been something else wrong with it!
