I was out this afternoon with the good lady in a nice pub with the three hounds, we were having a lovely time , I had a couple of pints and was feeling the effects of the alcohol, tired etc (always has this affect if I drink in the afternoon) and it got me thinking that if I could still drink the real ale that I was drinking but without the alcohol I would have loved to have stayed longer.

I know all about alcohol free beer etc. but it really doesn't taste the same and you can taste the lack of alcohol.

What about you guys and girls?

All other things being equal, yes, but I'd not deliberately look out for the mimic version over the traditional one.

It'd be useful if driving to and from the pub though. Could keep up with the others without feeling deprived.
Yes definately,
I'm not very keen on beer, but I enjoy Kopperberg cider, their alcohol free fruit cider tastes really nice and is half the price of the regular version.
I don't drink very much at all, and I don't drink to get drunk so it doesn't bother me at all if what I drink is alcoholic or not. X
I wouldn't drink non-alcohol beer if it tasted exactly the same.

If I wanted to avoid alcohol, there are nicer tasting drinks than beer to go for. I'd rather just have a cup of coffee or a fruit juice or something.

Only just seen this,

///The thing I hate most about beer is the fizziness///

Jim, are you getting Beer confused with Lager?
Even low-alcohol beer tastes bland, no-alcohol beer is appalling, it's like having a shower in your rain mac. I'm with ludwig; I'll have a ginger beer shandy, (as he's paying :-)
Beer wouldn't even exist as a drink if it hadn't been alcoholic right from the off. It doesn't taste pleasant enough to have made it past the initial market research phase. The alcohol buzz you get is an essential part of the experience.

Alcohol free beer's as pointless as a decaff espresso.
The reason beer became popular was that it was safer to drink than plain old water.
