What is the possible prognosis of a lumber herniated disk that has occured over a period of 5 months based on the progression of symptoms. Has occured in a 37 year old also.

The majority of patients improve and the symptoms disappear within 6-8 weeks on a regime of pain killers and rest........the majority.
However if the above does not occur and they develop weakness in their legs do bladder incontinence then surgery will be required.
