I would like to make this cake for a friend as a pick- you- up. I am sure this costs more than gold per kilo( from our localish deli! ). Does anyone out there have the recipe? If not can you recommend a place in London, Bucks , Berks or Herts to get one? Thanks in advance for your help with this dilemma!

This isn't poppy-seed cheesecake but this Saturday's Guardian had the closest recipe I've seen to the Polish cheesecake that I love.

You could modify this my adding poppy seeds.

There's a wonderful Polish deli between Balham and Tooting just ioff the main road: I can't remember what it's called but it serves great cheesecake - and it's not horrendously expensive either.
