I have extremely low self-esteem which stems from being told I am ugly my entire life from everyone, including my own mother. I feel my self-esteem has been damaged beyond repair. Therapy has not helped me and I just don't know what to do now.

No easy answer Angel, but you have to first learn to love and respect yourself - it hurts when others cannot see the real you, but that is their loss.

I do not know what therapy you have had, but maybe worth another go?
I used to have a low self confidence. Although it was not as bad. Someone recommended a book called "Hold your head up high". I still have that book and would see if I could give you the name of the author as well. That book did help and the main thing that teaches is what I said in your other post. "Do not rate yourself with other people".
Go and research for the people over the web which are experiencing and get a direct discussion with them which will be helpful for you to overcome this hard situation. Its quite difficult to answer this.
Make a list of your good points and read it regularly. What you'll have written down is the best of you, the real you. If negative thoughts come into your mind don't entertain them, think instead of the positive things.
The "Desiderata" makes good reading and have read that often in the past when feeling very down.
It makes you realise that you are as good and kind as every one else and helps you cope with life.
