As most of you know, I live in Whitby which is a fishing town. Every other shop sells fish and most people have a friend or relative in the business and pay little or nothing for fresh fish. Me, Mr O & Youngest Junior O are all keen anglers. My best male friend is a very successful poacher so I get all my salmon for free.
A short while ago a van pulled up outside my house and one of the occupants knocked on my door. He asked if I wanted to buy any fresh fish. I declined but then had a chat with him and saw that the side of the van said they were a firm of fishmongers from North Shields. I asked him how they were doing and so far they have had no sales.
Talk about taking coals to Newcastle
We live in seaham, the vans from north shields always come round at easter and christmas, business must be bad, if they are going all the way to whitby.
