As has already been pointed out, it makes a big difference as to what type of pets someone has. People with horses might require a car that can tow a horse box. People with big dogs will probably require lots of space. However people with goldfish or pet mice probably don't need to take them into consideration when buying a car!
The French may be able to shoehorn an Irish Wolfhound into the boot of a Renault 5 but I would rather give my Boxer the space of an estate, at least I can fit one of those guards to keep her in the back. She tends to try and get on my lap otherwise.
It has to be a 4.5 V8 in the back for me.
