I cant afford to buy another one at present, can anyone recomend any on line virus detectors please i am on aol broadband...if that helps any

uninstall everything to do with norton and download the free AVG anti-virus from here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

I can reccomend AVG. My local repair shop put the free version on for me after I had a worm and had to have my whole hard-drive wiped.

I surf daily and in two years, no problems at all.

Just to add my recommendation to buttons & andys - I used to use NAV til recently. I now use AVG & wish I'd done it ages ago!

AVG seems ok but I seem to get more pop-ups now than with Norton

spywriter: AVG is an anti-virus program, not a popup blocker.

josaphine: Use AVG Free (as j2buttonsw suggets with link above) for your anti-virus. Get either zonealarm or kerio personal firewall as a firewall (both good, I prefer kerio personally), and Adaware or similar spyware protection. Also ideally use Firefox for web browsing, not internet explorer. Links:
